FeedRation.com private beta

A few months ago I did this one day rails hack project called FeedRation… then I kindof forgot about it. It recently popped back into my head and I figured I should give some other people a chance to try it out. It’s by no means stable enough to release publicly so I’m going to give invites to whoever asks for them in a comment.

Here’s the basic premise of the site: You and your friends have more RSS feeds than you can handle. To solve this, why not have each person read 1/3 of the articles (if there are 3 people) and then pass along the good articles to the other two people. FeedRation facilitates this right in your feed reader.

How it works: You give it the URL of your feed, the emails of you and your friends, and FeedRation spits out a new custom feed for each of you. Each custom feed contains a distinct subset of stories from the original feed. It appends each story in the custom feed with a share/note link. If you click the share link that story will now appear in all your friends’ custom feeds. The best part is, to use this you don’t even have to change your feed reader.

Please check out the brief 2 minute screencast at FeedRation.com

Also if anyone is interested in working on this project with me or perhaps taking it over, lemme know in a comment.
